Lamis S. Dikko was born in Batagarawa, Katsina on 31/12/1957. He had his early education, including his Islamic and Primary/Secondary, in Katsina, Jos and Kano respectively. Upon completion, he proceeded with his undergraduate education in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Queen Mary College, University of London.

Lamis is a seasoned citizen who boasts a vast pool of experience, spanning over five decades from his formative years, in his working career and leadership positions across numerous organisations. He was Secretary General to the Students Union in both his high school and University stages of his life. His career in the Banking and Finance Industry started in June 1986 with his employment at Habib Nigeria Bank Ltd as an entry-level officer and rose to the grade of Assistant General Manager across eleven years. On 8th June, 1998, he switched jobs to Intercity Bank Plc as a General Manager following an acquisition of the bank by Strategic Investment Group. In 2003, he was appointed as the Managing Director of Intercity Bank.

During the 2004-05 consolidation programme within the banking sector, Intercity Bank merged with 8 other banks to form Unity Bank Plc, an effort marked as the largest merger of the program. Considering that Intercity Bank provided the engine room to the merger, it is worth noting that Lamis was the leading figure in the team’s effort. At the conclusion of the merger, he became an Executive Director of the resulting bank. The unique opportunity of the merger process enabled him to shape his leadership and negotiation abilities, as well as the merger and acquisition experience. It also enhanced his strategic policy formulation and execution skills.

In December 2010, Mr. Dikko relieved himself of his working career and devoted his time to BoardLevel governance in both the private and public sectors. The skills he had acquired over the span of his career and the banking consolidation process served him well to superintend  successful majority Shareholder Divestment in three of the companies he was chairing notably, Legacy Pension Managers Ltd (now FCMB Pensions), Eterna Plc and The Infrastructure Bank Plc.

Mr. Dikko joined the Institute of Directors (IoD) in 2000 and has been a highly active member. He served on the Director Development Committee and was the Chairman of the National Organizing Committee for the annual directors' conference for four consecutive years. During his tenure, he spearheaded the delivery of four successful conferences. He currently remains an advisor to the committee.

Mr. Dikko also served as the Vice Chairman of the Charter Committee. This committee was charged with the crucial task of following up with the National Assembly, Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), and the Presidency. The effort of the committee resulted in the signing of the charter bill in May 2023.

In September 2003, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Katsina, conferred him with the title of Ajiyan Katsina (Custodian) of Katsina Emirate.

He is married with four children.
