Dr. Umaru Kwairanga, F.IoD


Dr. Umaru Kwairanga is a skilled and experienced manager of men and materials, with over twenty-five years of cognate experience at the highest levels of the banking, pension, investment, manufacturing, and commercial sectors of Nigeria's economy. He is well-versed in governance, finance, and investments, having served or advised at the highest levels in both the private and public sectors.

He currently serves as the Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group (formerly the Nigeria Stock Exchange) and the Gombe State Investment and Properties Limited. He is also a director on the boards of Jaiz Bank Plc, Tangerine Insurance Limited, Tangerine APT Pensions Limited, and FBN Senegal Limited. His past board memberships include chairmanship of Ashaka Cement Plc from 2011-2014 and seats on the boards of Lafarge Africa Plc, Central Securities and Clearing System Plc (CSCS), Kano Electricity Distribution Company, and First Bank of Nigeria Mortgages Limited. Dr. Kwairanga has been the MD/CEO of Finmal Finance Services Limited, an investment bank, since 2001.

Dr. Kwairanga has been involved in policy and strategy formation in both private and public sectors through his involvement in the Vision 2020 Committee and the Presidential Advisory Committee (PAC) on the Nigerian Industrial Revolution Plan (NIRP). He was Chairman of the Commerce, Trade, and Investment Sub-Committee of the Gombe State Transition Committee in 2019. He has served on several committees of the Securities and Exchange Commission on issues relating to the capital market and driving investments in Nigeria.
