IoD Nigeria Confers Fellowship Awards on Members


The   Institute of Directors Nigeria held its 2021 edition of Fellows’ Investiture on Thursday, October 142021. The event, which witnessed the conferment of fellowship awards on 31 members of the Institute, had the theme, “Stimulating Nigeria's Economic Growth & Development: Lessons and Opportunities from recent challenges.”

 

In her welcome address, the President & Chairman of the Governing Council of the Institute, Dr. (Mrs.) Ije jidenmaF.IoD, noted that “the Fellows’ Investiture is part of the Institute’s tradition to honour deserving members of the Institute, who have meritoriously distinguished themselves in the service of the Institute in various capacities while making notable contributions to the success stories of their respective companies and the Nigerian business community.”  

While commending the outcome of the hard work of the Fellows & Awards Committee, ably chaired by a Distinguished Fellow and Past President of the Institute, Arc. Thomas C. Awagu, DF.IoD, she congratulated the new fellows and charged them to remain steadfast and focused in the pursuit of issues that would bring about positive growth and development in IoD Nigeria. She also stated that the Governing Council and Management of Institute would continue to demonstrate greater visibility in influencing government and corporate initiatives.

On his part, the Chairman of the Fellows and Awards Committee, Arch. Thomas C. Awagu, DF.IoD, welcomed all participants and appreciated the members of the Fellows & Awards Committee for the hard work, dedication and commitment they had put in to ensure the success of the event. He also congratulated the new fellows, and urged them to continue to abide by the Institute’s code of ethics and related obligations and commitments, as they make utmost contributions to the growth and development of the great Institute in particular and the country in general.

The guest speaker at the event, Mr. Olabode Agusto, M.IoD, a chartered accountant with decades of experience, and who is also the Founder and Managing Director of Nigeria’s first and leading indigenous credit rating agency, Agusto & Co., spoke on the theme of the event   - where he discussed how the lessons and opportunities from recent challenges could be used to stimulate Nigeria s economic growth and development.  

 

The hybrid event, which was held at the Institute’s Secretariat and via zoom, also had the following ’Office Bearers’ of the Institute physically in attendance: Chief Chris O. Okunowo, DF.IoD, Immediate Past President; Alhaji Tijjani Borodo, F.IoD, First Vice President; Mr. Austine Enajemo-Isire, F.IoD, Honorary Treasurer; and Mr. Dele Alimi, M.IoD, Director General/CEO.
