Chief Ogwu James Onoja, SAN, F.IoD

Chief Ogwu James Onoja, SAN is the Principal Partner of the firm. He is a 1990 Law Graduate of the University of Jos (UNIJOS). He was at the Nigeria Law School, Lagos and a 1991 call. He holds a Master’s Degree in Law from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), PGDM and MBA from the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Chief Onoja, SAN is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM), fellow of the Nigerian Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FNCIArb.), member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb.) UK, Member, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Abuja and Lokoja, Fellow, Certified Cost Management (FCCM), Fellow, Institute of Directors (F.IoD) Nigeria and UK, Member, Capital Market Consultants with Security & Exchange Commission and he is a Notary Public, amongst other qualifications. He had worked as Counsel in Humphrey Abah & Co. (1992-1994), Principal Partner, Onoja Consulting Solicitors (1994 - 1997), Senior Counsel in T.J. Onomigbo Okpoko, SAN & Co. (1997 - 2000).

On setting up O.J. Onoja & Associates, thus incorporating Onoja Consulting Solicitors in 2000, he assumed the office as the Principal Partner from the year 2000 to date. He is on the Board of Directors of some Companies such as ACEN Insurance Plc, Macks Farm Nigeria Limited, Goomeej Nigeria Limited and many more. He is a member, Capital Market Consultants registered with SEC. He is also the Editor-in-Chief, Bar and Bench Publishers, authors and publishers of Law books such as; Supreme Court Rules; Practice and Procedure (2010), Court of Appeal Rules; Practice and Procedure (2010), Federal High Court Rules; Practice and Procedure Volumes 1 and 2 (2012) and Fundamental Rights (Enforcement Procedure) Rules, 2009 published in 2021.

Chief Onoja, SAN was on 9th of January, 2017 appointed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria as a Member of the Legal Practitioners’ Privilege Committee, a body responsible for the appointment and discipline of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN).
